What a day we had for Ruairidh and Craig’s wedding photography at The Vu in Bathgate! One of those classic Scottish days where you get all four seasons before you’ve even had your first sip of fizz. But honestly, it just added to the magic of it all!

The guys got ready separately, with Ruairidh in ‘The Hoose’ at the venue, surrounded by his family and close pals, while Craig was tucked away in a wee cottage nearby with his nearest and dearest. Both grooms had their parents on hand to help them into their kilts – and let’s be honest, getting all those layers and pleats sitting right is no small feat! But they both looked absolutely brilliant, kitted out and ready to go.

The ceremony and reception were held in the Water Lily, a modern, round building with massive windows looking out over the loch. Ruairidh arrived first, taking his place at the top of the aisle, waiting for Craig to arrive. And when he did, there wasn’t a dry eye in the place. Their humanist ceremony was so heartfelt, full of love and laughter – the perfect reflection of these two.

As much as the weather had been playing games with us all day, we somehow dodged the rain long enough to get a few group shots outside. Then it was time for a wander with the newlyweds for their couple shoot. And what a backdrop we had! The loch was perfectly still, the sky giving us a mix of blue and dramatic clouds, meaning we got some absolutely breath-taking reflection shots on the jetty. Just stunning!

From there, the day just flowed beautifully. I spent the rest of it capturing all the natural, candid moments – guests laughing over drinks, the emotional speeches, and, of course, some cracking dance moves later on!

Before they took to the floor for their first dance, they cut their wedding cake – and not just any cake. The biggest wedding cake I’ve ever seen in real life, and they cut it with a sword, because of course they did! Legends.

Honestly, it was such a joy to capture Ruairidh and Craig’s big day. So much love, so much laughter, and a whole lot of happy tears. Huge congratulations, here’s to a lifetime of adventures together!
