If you’ve ever been lucky enough to visit Errol Park in the Carse of Gowrie, Perthshire, you’ll know what a dream of a wedding venue it is — a grand old mansion surrounded by rolling countryside, walled gardens, and views that go on forever. So when Cat and Euan asked me to be their wedding photographer at Errol Park, I knew we were in for a brilliant of a day.
Morning vibes – getting ready in the mansion
The morning kicked off with both Cat and Euan getting ready in different parts of the big house. Cat was upstairs with her bridesmaids and mum – lots of laughter, a few happy tears, and the usual buzz of excitement. Downstairs, Euan and his groomsmen were kilting up, cracking open a cans, and keeping the nerves at bay. One of my favourite moments was Cat’s first look with her dad – such a lovely, emotional pause in the middle of a busy morning. They opted for my Photography and Film package so I also had my trusty Videographer pal, Keiran along to help capture the day.
The ceremony – swords, sunshine & smiles
The ceremony took place outdoors on the lawn, and we couldn’t have asked for better Scottish summer weather. The guests were welcomed by a piper (always a classic touch!) before everyone gathered under the trees for the vows. And yes, there were swords involved – because what’s a Scottish wedding without a wee bit of tradition and flair?
Confetti, cocktails & sax tunes
After the “I dos,” we had a proper confetti shower on the lawn, and it was one of those moments where everyone just beams from ear to ear. The single ladies gathered for a bouquet toss which luckily did not turn violent. Guests wandered the grounds, cocktail in hand, soaking up the sunshine while music filled the air – absolute perfection for a summer wedding in Perthshire. We did some group shots and then snuck off with Cat and Euan to the walled gardens for some quiet couple portraits. It’s such a stunning spot at Errol Park – full of hidden corners, stone walls, and wild greenery. We made it back in time for some live sax tunes and mingling before dinner.
Reception in the stables
The reception was held in the stables, beautifully decorated and full of laughter. The couple were piped in to cheers and applause before speeches and dinner. After dinner and before the evening guests arrived, we managed to slip away for another wee photoshoot. Errol Park really spoils you for choice – every turn has another perfect backdrop. Colin (absolute legend of Errol Park) kindly took us up to the Folly in his golf buggy, and we even stopped off to say hello to the Highland cows along the way.
Evening party & dancing the night away
By the time we got back, the evening guests were arriving, ready to celebrate. The cake was cut, the band started up, and the dancefloor was buzzing in no time. Cat and Euan’s first dance was one of those lovely, relaxed moments where you can just tell – these two are made for each other.
A perfect end to a perfect summer’s day at one of Perthshire’s best wedding venues.
