What a fantastic way to kick off the wedding photography season with Sarah and David’s winter wedding at Balbirnie House Hotel in Fife! January may be chilly, but the warmth of the day and the love between these two was absolutely undeniable.
The day started with bridal prep in the hotel where the ladies were having hair and makeup done. I also went outside to capture some shots of David and his groomsmen and guests. Their Humanist ceremony was held in the Orangery. Surrounded by the crisp winter air and soft winter light, Sarah and David exchanged their vows. It was intimate, meaningful, and just the perfect spot for a winter wedding.
After the ceremony, we went outside for some photos, and I have to say, the frosty surroundings made for some stunning shots. The frosty trees and grounds looked like something out of a winter fairy-tale, and the couple didn’t mind the cold one bit. We also got a big group shot on the steps of the house. It’s one of those classic shots that never gets old, especially when you have such a lovely group of people around you to celebrate the day.
The reception in the ballroom was where the fun really kicked off. Speeches were heartfelt and had everyone laughing, but then came the party! The guys at Tartan Entertainment kept the energy high and had everyone on their feet, dancing the night away, there wasn’t a dull moment. We also took some sparklers out for a few photos with the wedding party. If you are eagle-eyed you might have noticed David's moonboot? Bad timing for an injury, but it didn't hold him back on the day and I did my best to hide it in the photos!
To top it all off, David surprised Sarah with a song. Nothing beats a groom singing to his bride (if, like David, they can actually sing!), and it was such a special, touching moment that brought even more warmth to the already magical evening.
All in all, it was a beautiful day, filled with laughter, love, and lots of dancing. A perfect start to the year, and I was so honoured to be there to capture it all. Wishing Sarah and David all the best for their future together!
