The Rhynd wedding photography in Fife with Struan and Sarah

Every so often I photograph a wedding that just flows from start to finish. Sarah and Struan’s day at The Rhynd near St Andrews was exactly that – relaxed, genuine, and full of laughs. As a Fife wedding photographer, I’ve been to a fair few venues, but The Rhynd is always a favourite. It’s a working farm with loads of character, open space, and a great mix of rustic barns and countryside views. Perfect for natural wedding photography that doesn’t feel forced.

Bridal Prep in the Farmhouse

The day began in the farmhouse on site, where Sarah’s family were staying. It had that easy, homely feel – folk moving about, cups of tea being topped up, and a general calm before the day properly kicked off. Sarah did a first look with her Dad, which was a really special moment, quiet but full of emotion. Then one with her bridesmaids and the place filled with squeals and a few happy tears.

Ceremony in the Barn

The plan had been for an outdoor ceremony, but the sky had other ideas, so everything moved inside to the barn. It turned out beautifully. The barn was simple and full of warmth – ideal for candid, natural photos. Sarah’s dad, who’s a minister, led the service himself – a lovely family tradition that made it all the more personal. Her Mum walked her down the aisle to meet her Groom.

Confetti, Groups & A Ladder

Once the ceremony was over, everyone gathered outside for confetti. I ended up climbing a ladder for the big group shot – worth it for the view, but always a challenge for a Photographer with vertigo! We rattled through the rest of the group photos quickly; all the guests were happily mingling outdoors with drinks.

Couple Photos Around The Rhynd

After the group photos, I took Sarah and Struan for a wander around the farm for their couple shoot. We stopped by the fields, the poly tunnel, and the hay bales – a nice mix of spots that really show off what The Rhynd has to offer. The weather caught up with us in the end, luckily the couple had an umbrella to walk back indoors as the rain got heavier. Back inside, the couple joined their guests for my favourite part of any day – capturing those candid, natural wedding photos. Guests chatting, hugs, kids running about, folk having a laugh – all the real bits that make a wedding feel alive.

Evening Lights & Ceilidh Dancing

Speeches came before dinner, full of good humour and a few emotional moments. Later on, we slipped out for a few evening shots under the festoon lights – always worth it for that warm glow. Then the ceilidh band kicked off, and the dancefloor filled quickly. A proper ceilidh too – wild, loud, and full of joy.

All in all, Sarah and Struan’s The Rhynd wedding was everything you’d hope for – relaxed, personal, and full of heart. Exactly the kind of day that reminds me why I love being a Fife wedding photographer. No fuss – just honest, natural moments and a brilliant couple surrounded by their favourite people.
